Knowledge can be so powerful when it comes to our kids. Yet, it can be so hard to understand the nitty gritty of sensory differences. That’s where I come in.
As an occupational therapist with 20 years of experience and a mom of 3, I can bring my knowledge, personal passion, and actionable strategies to the table for you to try at home TODAY.
I help your child by helping you…
We all want to be the parent that has read ALL the books, listened to the podcasts, attended the seminars, and done a deep dive into what having sensory differences means. But how many of us have the time to do all of that? Let me give you the quick and simplified version of these concepts applied directly as they relate to your child and family on an individual basis.
Family success is our goal, and sensory solutions are not one size fits all. Every child and family is different, and no 2 days are alike. Let me be your guide as we find out what works for your family. I offer more than just consulting for your child’s sensory needs. I am also a mindful parenting coach, to help support you and your entire family in making your home life feel more relaxed, cohesive, and enjoyable.
My Process
We start with an initial session, where you fill out a few quick forms about your child, yourself, and your family. This information will be discussed at our initial meeting. Further information will then be gathered as needed, and given back to you in ways that are easily understood and broken down in language you can actually understand.
In each session, we try to identify “key areas” that you would like to learn more about or target and address them. When meeting with me, you will always be the guide of what you would like to target on that day. Some days this may mean a deep dive into complicated topics such as interoception, and some days this may mean just talking about you and your needs as a parent and human. My favorite thing to do is give you actionable strategies to try TODAY at home. After 20 years in the game, I’ve got some tricks up my sleeve that I’d love to share with you! I also strongly feel that being empowered to try different strategies at home gives us the confidence we need to make real progress in our home environments.
I do not generally meet with your child in person. I encourage you to send videos, pictures, and all of your stories about your child or children. As a parent coach, I believe that you are the gatekeeper to your child’s sensory success at home and I enjoy working with you to embrace this role.
Following every session, I provide a deeply detailed session note that incorporates everything we have discussed, equipment recommendations, and resources to try.
Payment
At this time, I do not accept insurance and am a fee-for-service only provider.
Unfortunately, sensory processing disorder is still not considered a stand-alone distinct diagnosis by the DSM-5 or ICD, but rather a feature of other disorders. This makes it impossible to bill directly for these types of services. However, I feel this allows me to create an experience free from restriction and guidelines of what is “billable” and what is not. This freedom allows me to tailor your sessions to you, your family, and your individual needs as a whole.
Because my services are considered health and wellness, I am able to process FSA cards for payment.
I try to keep sessions affordable and accessible as a result. Sessions are also available via zoom session or phone call.
